Report: Chelsea will try to sign ‘fantastic’ midfielder who Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola rate
According to Goal, Bellingham has been on the Blues radar for some time and it is their wishes to eventually bring him over to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea really cannot be blamed for wanting the midfielder in their ranks, considering the past 12 months he’s just enjoyed.
The 17-year-old signed for Borussia Dortmund last summer and had something of a breakout season in Germany.
He played 46 times across all competitions, then was named the Bundesliga’s Best Newcomer.
His performances earned him a place in Gareth Southgate’s European Championship squad.
It didn’t take him long to become the youngster player ever to represent England at the tournament, after coming on as substitute in last weekend’s win over Croatia.
From across the footballing landscape, Bellingham is respected by some of the game’s greatest judges.
Jose Mourinho said he ‘loved everything about’ Dortmund’s youngster in his Sun column.
Pep Guardiola labeled him a ‘fantastic player’ during a Sky Sports interview.
Therefore, it’s no great surprise that Chelsea would love to call Bellingham one of their own.
But their first Dortmund mission is to prize Erling Haaland away from the Westfalenstadion.
Personal teams have reportedly been agreed between BVB and the Blues for Haaland’s signature, but a fee still needs to be decided on.
Roman Abramovich is hopeful that potential relationships between his club and the Norwegian can help him land Bellingham in the future.
